As the founder of Average Local Media, I would like to explain a little bit about what this company is and why this company was created. Thank you for reading.

Growing up in Merced, I was always raised with the idea that sports can teach us things we need to know about life. My father was a firm believer in what sports can do for a child’s development. I suppose he passed that down unto me. I have participated in local sports in this area since I was a child. I’ve dedicated my career to helping students in this area grow and develop through education and sports.

Now that I am an adult, I understand the obstacles that life presents; they are now advanced versions of the obstacles I overcame when I was younger. I use the same values I learned in sports to overcome them now: perseverance, hard work, patience, discipline. I develop bonds with my neighbors through the same traits I attained when I developed bonds with teammates: respect, commitment, unity, trust. The teams back then were the Bears, Cougars, Fresh Quest Produce, United Rentals, Hornets. The team today is my family, my school, my neighborhood, my town. Local Merced sports have helped me become the person I am today. That is why I want to cherish, celebrate and help cover it for the community.

This is why Average Local Media was formed. Our company covers sports stories in this area so that people can see a small part of what makes Merced so special: The lights, the sounds, the heights and frowns. From the kicks and swings to the splashes and dashes, it is our pleasure to help bring local sports coverage to the Merced County area. We welcome your attention, your suggestions and contributions. We will do our best to show you the best (and the rest) of what Merced County sports has to offer. Thank you, Merced.
